Homeowners must submit an application to the Modifications Subcommittee prior to making any modifications to the exterior or visible from the exterior of their home including but not limited to: decks, fences, swing sets, patios, sheds, etc. Applications must be received no later than NOON THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE MEETING.

A representative of the Loudoun County US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program stopped by the Nature Center this week to thank Broadlands residents for their participation in the 2012 campaign. He presented the HOA with a Certificate of Appreciation, which will be displayed in the Nature Center. Residents generously donated numerous toys to the campaign, dropping them off at the collection box at the Nature Center during November and December of last year.

The 21st Annual Van Metre 5 Mile Run will start at 8:30 am on Saturday, March 23 at the Broadlands Marketplace. Help Van Metre raise $100,000 for the Children's National Medical Center. The event includes a Kid's Run for Fun, a One Mile Fun Run/Walk, and the 5 Mile Run. Discounted registration until March 18. For more information, visit www.vanmetre5milerun.org.

Everything you need to complete the craft is included, except the glue. They make great gifts and all proceeds from the sale of the Nature Center Craft Kits help us take care of our animal guests. PSI Property Services has been contracted by the Board of Directors to repaint the fire lanes on the private streets throughout the community.  Painting will take place in late November/early December as weather permits.  The preparation required to clean the old paint off the curbs may produce large paint chips in the vicinity of the fire lanes.  These chips need to dry before they can be blown and cleaned up, which may take a day or two.  Large flakes will be removed prior to the completion of each section.  Crews will rotate throughout the community to perform each of the three phases of work.   The planned schedule is:

Day 1: Prepping of curbs, including jet blasting old paint which may produce large paint chips
Day 2: Blowing of leaves, debris, and paint chips to clean curbs and vicinity
Day 3: Painting of the curbs
