Terracycle Committee

This committee manages a recycling initiative to help the Broadlands community reduce waste through a partnership with TerraCycle whose mission is Eliminating the Idea of Waste® by partnering with businesses, government groups, and individuals worldwide to keep trash out of landfills and reduce incineration.

TERRACYCLE PROGRAM (Start date TBD)

We are excited to announce the launch of a free community recycling program through TerraCycle! This program provides a solution for recycling hard-to-recycle items and aims to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. Overconsumption and a throwaway culture have contributed to a global waste crisis. While many complex materials can technically be recycled, most are not cost-effective to recycle. As a result, waste accumulates in landfills, polluting our planet, while new materials are extracted from the earth to create new products.

What can I recycle through this program?

Recycle all brands of oral care
products and packaging.

  • Toothpaste tubes and caps
  • Toothbrushes (non-electric)
  • Toothpaste cartons
  • Toothbrush outer packaging
  • Floss containers

Electric toothbrushes, battery toothbrushes, and/or their parts are not accepted for recycling through the program.

Tide, Gain, Downy, Bounce, NB and
Deft packaging only accepted

  • Flexible packages for fabric care products
  • Detergent rigid plastic tubs and lids
  • Bottles and triggers for laundry products
  • Tide to go pens

Where can I drop off?

TBD

Volunteer! Teens, get your service hours in!

This recycling program will be run and maintained by community members. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to BroadlandsTerracycle@gmail.com.
